OUR TEAM
Mission
Develop a strong team of skilled individuals to bridge the gap between data intensieve industries that could benefit from AI algorithms and the academic community at Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Vision
AI promises excpetional advancements that are compatible across fields. With a primary focus in the healthcare sector, we aim to develop useful solutions for real world problems
Values
- Excellence
- Creativity
- Humanity
Daniel Vela (Founder)
When I started as a freshman at Tecnológico de Monterrey, I often found myself searching for groups and mentors that could guide me in my path to explore Artificial Intelligence. To my disillusion, it was really hard to find a place to start from ground up that could promise valuable career development in the long run. I found our campus revealed lacking when compared to other top universities around the world.
I founded MindKind to make a home for those students who just like me, are passionate and curious about Artificial Intelligence. I hope that someday, if we work together, we will be able to produce valuable high impact research to solve the most important problems of humanity and bear the name of Tecnológico de Monterrey proudly amongst AI experts.

Mentors
Alejandro Santos (Faculty)
Dr. Santos is a Faculty member of the School of Engineering and Science at Tecnológico de Monterrey. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and a Master’s and PhD degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM) and McMaster University (Canada), respectively. His current research interests are focused on the analysis of magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy signals for the understanding of brain function in healthy and disease conditions. In addition, he is also interested in the use and development of artificial intelligence techniques applied to the analysis of biomedical signals and images for diagnostic and prognostic purposes. Recently he incorporated to the Bioinformatics and medical diagnosis research focus group led by Dr. Víctor Treviño and was awarded the Candidate distinction in the National System of Investigators (SNI-C)
